It may be hard to believe and I will raise more than one eyebrow in suspicion or disbelief, but the truth is that I am not interested in my blog traffic. For several months I have been receiving link exchange invitations from bloggers interested in increasing the number of visits to their blogs, as well as they have provided me with “great” tips so that the number of “clicks” to my site increases. . I am not interested, neither with those methods nor with any other that is not directly related to the interest in the content I share.
I love to know that some people have been inspired to create a blog, apparently because they know that if someone as confused with technology and is stumbling around as a buffoon through life as I can, they can too. I care that several people have been given ideas and some guidance applicable to their jobs and relationships on social media. Or simply encouraged them to open a Twitter account. How do i know Because they told me, and it really feels great!
My profit in this blog is not traffic, it is you, the human being who reads me. It is a privilege to write about something that I like and really care about, as well as knowing about what interests you, your opinions. It is comforting and fun to do. By entering my blog they also open a door for you, from whom I learn every day.
I am interested that you feel welcome here, that you feel that I am pleased that you come, and it also seems very important that you participate in the conversation between you. I would love for you to feel that there is always a comfortable sofa here especially for you where you can learn and share something.
They can give me arguments and try to convince me that the traffic on my blog measures the level of how interesting I am, or how attractive my posts are, or how “influential” I am, or say whatever. My traffic is an indication that I piqued someone’s interest today, but only today. I fully understand that my blog is different from those who try to do business directly with them, and the truth is that if I have made some business contacts, and even if they are small things, I value them and I know that they will grow over time.
With subscribers it is a little different, the accumulated number of subscribers tells me how many people liked what they saw and read on my blog and want to have more. I am so grateful for each of you. They motivate me to continue writing and sharing ideas.
I do not intend that this post is going to stop those emails that I receive to offer me link exchange and / or tips to increase traffic on my blog, but at least it will have been clear to my readers, and you may like to know, that you do not interest me as numbers but as people, and what really makes me happy are the comments and suggestions, good conversations, sharing more ideas, inspiring them and strengthening a small community of common interests towards social networks and why not? to everyday things.
So excuse me if I did not count them as they were opening my door today, whether it was ten of you or a million, I will still care about the same things, and if I have not said it enough, I want to say that I am happy that you taken a little of your time to spend it here. Thank you.
